We've previously detailed eco-friendly promo products, but there is a whole segment we didn't touch on ... apparel.
The amount of resources needed to create apparel is astronomical (it's the second largest consumer of the world's water supply), which is why many manufacturers have begun to utilize more sustainable options. Thankfully, the promotional industry is on board with this sustainability mission.
42% of customers have a more favorable opinion of an advertiser if the promotional product they received was environmentally friendly (Global Ad Impression Study, 2019)
While our neighbors to the North put even more emphasis on social responsibility - 51% of Canadian consumers have a more favorable opinion of the advertiser.
Typically for a garment to be considered sustainable, it should encompass the following elements: eco-friendly, ethically-made, lasting and accessible.
Let's take a look at some of the sustainable apparel options for your next promotional apparel purchase.
District Re-Tee
The District Re-Tee is 100% recycled fabric and never re-dyed, made from reclaimed material that otherwise could end up in a landfill. Available in unisex tee and in a ladies v-neck. Due to the no re-dye promise on these tees, the color options are fairly basic, but with a couple of surprises.
Alternative Eco-Fleece
Available in a variety of sweatshirt styles and various men's and women's pants, Alternative offers an eco-fleece which is made of 6.25% recycled polyester and organic cotton and many pieces use low-impact dyed yarn.
ecoSmart Corporate Wear
ecoSmart boasts at least a 30% recycled fabric guarantee in their polos, zip pullovers and packable jackets. Available in both men's and ladies' styles, these pieces will let you look great in the office and are a win for the planet.
Giving Back
One apparel vendor, Vantage Apparel, recently announced they were sourcing more environmentally friendly apparel options as well as joining 1% For The Plant. Their Vansport Planet Polo and Vansport Eureka Shirt are perfect corporate apparel options. Each polo keeps 10 plastic bottles from landfills and oceans, while each button down accounts for the recycling of 12 plastic bottles.
Next time you are ready to order promotional apparel, consider one of these sustainable options. The planet will thank you.
