Once again JH Specialty is proud to be named one of Counselor Magazine's “Best Places to Work” in the promotional industry for the 9th year in a row. This year, JH Specialty ranks number 42 out of the 75 U.S. companies earning honors.
JH Specialty utilizes the information provided by this award to recognize and share attributes that help create a positive work environment, which in turn leads to employee satisfaction and engagement. Each year JH Specialty strives to continue to grow and develop their organization to exceed their customer’s and employee’s expectations.
An important way JH Specialty continues to develop their fun, yet hard-working team atmosphere is through careful consideration of new employee candidates. When interviewing with possible candidates JH Specialty keeps long-term growth in mind, and always placing a high importance on finding the best fit for both the employee and the Firm. Once on board, new employees emerge into valued team members through fun activities that promote a family like culture inside of the organization. Examples of these activities include: The JH Specialty Olympics, a company-wide scavenger hunt, new team member welcome parties, Christmas decorating challenge, a team-based Chopped cooking challenge with bacon, company/customer corn hole tournament, annual off-site Christmas parties complete with live entertainment, as well as numerous community volunteer activities, impromptu happy hours and poker/game/movie nights in the JH Specialty game room.
JH Specialty knows that happy employees’ equals engaged employees. Through this knowledge, JH Specialty continues to the develop internal programs that benefit the employees. Jason Knothe, COO mentions one way they continue to give back to our employees; “We realized that our IRA retirement plan was not being utilized as much as it could. To improve this, we made the determination to move to a more attractive 401k plan with a fully guaranteed 3% company contribution, regardless of whether or not the individual contributes his/her own dollars to the plan. Participation in team member contributions is now 97%.”
