A Look at What We're Binging

It's time for another look behind the scenes to get to know our JH team a little better. This time we are talking TV, movies, documentaries ... anything binge-worthy to get you through the cold winter months.

Harrison // The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

I've recently binged The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. It gives a perception of what stand-up comedy was like in the 1950s. Also, Susie Myerson is my spirit animal, so I would watch for that alone. You can watch this on Prime Video.

Nate // The Last Dance

Calling all sports fans! This docu-series follows the Chicago Bulls 1997-98 season. You also get a look at Michael Jordan's career. You can watch this on Netflix.

Tim J. // Blade Runner

As a Harrison Ford fan I had to watch the original 1982 classic and the newer 2049 version. If you're looking for engaging atmosphere, cinematography and music score along with an interesting and unique story then you should give these a shot.  You can watch this on Apple TV.

Stuart // Forged in Fire

Reality TV meets blacksmithing. This competition show is one of my trusty fall backs when I'm looking for something to watch. You can watch this on the History Channel.

Haley // Emily in Paris

I'll admit, I binge watched Emily in Paris. There are only 10 episodes so far, and they’re all about 30 min. long, so it’s a quick binge! (I watched it in 2 days) The show is about a young woman, Emily, who works for a worldwide marketing firm and gets sent to work at their Paris office (#goals). It's a feel good, chick flick type of show with drama, love, and humor. I highly recommend it if you’re into that kind of show! Let’s hope Season 2 happens soon! You can watch this on Netflix.

James // The New Legends of Monkey

If you need a crime drama to watch, I'm your guy! But my recommendation is a bit quirky and more tween oriented I suppose, but it entertains without requiring the fact hunting/pondering of a crime drama. You can watch this on Netflix.

Sarah // In the Dark

This is a mix of my favorite genres: drama/crime, comedy and romance. The main character, Murphy, is blind and discovers what she thinks is her best friend, Tyson, dead in an alleyway. She lost her sight as a teenager, so her personality is very dry, self-absorbed and has a bit of an attitude but all that put together really makes her a humorous character. She lives and works with her friend from childhood who helps take care of her. Their relationship is fun to watch and really makes you empathize with both of them. The show goes through a series of twists and surprising turns as she tries to solve the mystery of Tyson. You can watch this on Netflix.

Shawn // Magic of Disney's Animal Kingdom

My wife and I watch this every week right before The Mandalorian. For about 40 minutes each week we can feel like we are on a little mini-vacation. We are members of our local zoo, and particularly enjoy this in the winter months with the zoo being closed for the season. It has been interesting to discover Disney’s deeper mission and has been a refreshing discovery to find out that many of their animals are actually rescues. You can watch this on Disney+.

John // The Queen's Gambit

This show is well written, produced, and has a talented cast. It brought back memories of grade school chess club days, and I think it was a well-timed release since Chess is growing in popularity during the pandemic (digitally). You can watch this on Netflix.

We hope you've found something to add to your watch list. Happy binge-watching!
